We can always see those reports concerned with food safety in the newspaper, on the TV or through other media. This issue even became one of the top concerns during the two sessions this yea

2、r.But what underlies this? First and foremost, food is the most important thing to human beings. As the old saying goes, “Food is the paramount necessity of people.” One can not live without food. However, we must recognize the fact that adequate food is far from enough. The quality of food has a gr

3、eat effect on peoples health. We absorb nutrition from our diet which plays a central role in ensuring our health. Another important and immediate reason is that the food is not very safe now. The food safety problem has become really serious. Over the past a few years, more and more cases of food s

4、candal have been exposed by various media. Among them, Sanlu may be the most notorious one which made the melamine-tainted milk powder. It directly resulted in many healthy problems even hundreds of deaths. Following on the melamine-tainted milk powder, there exposed more and more food safety scanda

5、ls such as the tainted pork, the gutter oil and the rice with heavy metals. So it is a necessity for people and the nation to pay more attention to the food safety in order to have a good food environment.There are several reasons that cause the food safety problems. The most important one is the la

6、ck of moral education. In the course of the rapid economic evolution, people become richer and richer in material but poorer and poorer in spirit. Many of the producers care nothing but money. So they produce much harmful food which costs less and earns more. Also, the government should be responsib

7、le for the issue. Many local governments do not pay enough attention to the issue. And some officials are even bribed by the producers who want to get a charter to produce the illegal food. Finally, as consumers, the lack of the sense of preserving our rights also encourage those producers malfeasan

8、ceAs the problems are so serious, we must take effective measures before things get worse. First, the government must strengthen the moral education so as to create a harmonious society. And then, the government should pass more laws and regulations on the issue of food safety and establish special

9、offices to oversee the food market. Moreover, the punishment on the illegal producers should be much more severe, which is the most effective way that has been proved by many foreign countries. As consumers, our efforts will be a good contribution to eliminate these problems, too. So we should gain more knowledge on the laws of food safety to protect ourselves and help reduce the food safety problems. These problems, like Rome, are not built in a day, but I am convinced that through our combined efforts we will enjoy a society which has much less harmful food.
