7、three years.During my teaching of recent years,I have found there are many problems students are faced in memorizing English words.Now Ill finish my further education in Gansu Central Radio and TV University Wu Wei Branch.I hope I can solve the problems which have troubled me for some theory into pr

8、actice,which I learned from Gansu Central Radio and TV University Wu Wei Branch.2.Summary of the preliminary research 2.1 Problem The problem I face during my teaching is that it is hard for my most students to memorize English words.some students cant memorize words.While some students cant leave t

9、he words they have memorized in their minds 第 4 页 for long time.I try to use my knowledge that I have studied in Gansu Central Radio TV University.to help them solve the problems.2.2 Problem analysis Cause analysis In my teaching,I think the problem analysis have mainly three reasons:Firstly,because

10、 my students are children of farmers.Families dont speak English.My students think it to be not familiar.secondly,we cant often speak English in my day life.They think that it is useless to learn English,its enough to learn Chinese well.Students dont realized international form.Thirdly,some of stude

11、nts felt over loaded because of the heavier homework assignments.Some students dont want to memorize English words,because it takes too much time to memorize English words,and they are forgetful.Observation In my teaching,I found the problem analysis have two reasons:Some students dont have interest

12、s in learning English.So they spending little time in remembering English words;第 5 页 Some students hardly not only read English texts,but also cant use English words that they have learned to write articles,So they cant remember words easily.As we all know,a good speaker needs to be able use accura

13、te spelling,meaningful punctuation,appropriate vocabulary,correct grammar,clear handwriting and format,appropriate formality,as well as a variety of coherent sentence structures,and discourse and rhetorical conventions.While some superficial features are easy for our students to notice,the use of co

14、hesive devices needs to be emphasized.Cohesive devices play an important role in organizing sentences into a coherent text,so we will focus a little attention on them.Because all of them are based on English words.2.3 Project objective:In order to make students memorize words more quickly and easily

15、,improve students English level.2.4 Project hypothesis It is hypothesized that students speed of memorizing words is improved by all kinds of techniques 3.Project rationale A Combing several old words to become some new words.第 6 页 Finding two or more old words to memorize new words For example,“for

18、memorize English words.For example,“vegetable can be imagined“Wo de chi bao.“Ambulance can be imagined“Wo bu neng si.And so the meanings of these words can be kept in my minds quickly.E Through writing short articles to memorize several words.Using several English words to write a short article.It c

19、an not only memorize words quickly,but also improve students writing abilities.When I taught the words of Lesson 1 第 7 页 Olympic Games Book Firstly,I made students use these words“ancient,modern Olympic medal,gold,silver,bronze,shooting,swimmer,race to imagine a passage,secondly,say it in Chinese,fi

20、nally,say it in English.These words can be remembered and they arent forgotten easily 4.Teaching work design I designed an adequate number of activities(Cover four weeks of teaching)to test the hypothesis.In my project,I decide to improve my teaching technique in six ways:Firstly I would teach stude

21、nts how to pronounce and master the role of pronunciation.Secondly I would train students to memorize new words in different ways and then make examples with these new words.Fourthly I would make students talk with each other in English in class and even after class.Lastly,I would make them write sh

22、ort articles.5.Project Implementation I designed eight activities to be tried out in four weeks.And these activities are reported as follows.Week 1 Activity 1 This activity was based in New standard book 3,module 第 8 页 1,numbers Course:New standard book 3,module 1,numbers Purpose:Master the role of

23、pronunciation.Instructions:Students listen to teachers pronunciation,and master the role of pronunciation.Procedure:Teacher let students try reading new words in small groups.Find their errors in pronunciation,and then correct them.At last,students read new words loudly to master the role of pronunc

24、iation.Step 1.Tell the students how to read new words.For example thirteen,fourteen,fifteen(teen)Step 2.Ask them to read by themselves Step 3.Correct by themselves.Step 4.Summarize the lesson Step 5.Summarizing the lesson by emphasize the above four collocations.Homework:review the words by using th

25、e correct form.Activity2.Course:The words of unit 1 and unit 2 Book 3 Purpose:Memorizing the words in different ways.第 9 页 Instruction:Students look at new words carefully,From these new words,find something that you have learned.Procedure:Let students find the new words opposite words,Similar words

41、 5.Summarizing the lesson by emphasize the above four collocations.Homework:Write a short passage 6.Data Analysis After four weeksactionreaearch,I designed questionnaire two.The second queationnaire was partly based on queationnaire one in the preliminary research so that comparisons could be made t

42、o see the improvement.In designing this new questionnaire,I also used feedback information from my solutions to the problem discussed so that their effectiveness could be reflected by the results.Compared with the first questionnaire,the second one had its own feature,for by now I was more conscious

43、 of the usefulness of the oral practice management I suggested.The results are listed as follows:6.1 Students general impression of the project The project here consists of three aspects:degree of interest,practicality and satisfaction.After comparing the results of 第 15 页 the two questionnaire,I fo

44、und out that generally speaking,there has been significant improvement after the implementation.The reaults of the two questionnaire are presented in Graph 1 and Table 1 Interest:Graph1 shows that there is a drastic improvement in this regard.Most of the subjects who rank themselves in scale“like an

45、d“like very much implementation.The graph also shows no one dislike communicative practice after the implementation.As the objects of our reaearch is to enhance my students interest and effect in doing words practice after class,such a result is very encouraging.It proves that our implementation of

46、the solutions is fruitful and effective.Practicality:Comparison between the results of the two questionnaire shows that 100%of the students think the oral tasks I asked them to do after class now are more practical than before.And through practising the oral tasks,they have much improvement in the f

47、ollowing aspects.First,80%of the students said they could open their mouths to speak.Second,85%of them said they could easily learn the new patterns and main ideas if the texts by heart.Third,88%of them 第 16 页 said they could express the main idea of the texts.fourth,60%of them said they could commu

48、nicate something about the topic closed to real-life.Satisfaction:Our data also show that 100%of the students are more satisfied with the words tasks I asked them to do after class now than they were before.I asked them which methods of the following they were more astisfied with.Answers Before impl
