9、t本身没有任何意义,只有连接作用,在口语 中或非正式文体中常省略。常接that引导的宾语从句的谓语动词有:believe, expect, explain, feel, hear, hope, imagine, prefer, promise, report, say, see, tell, think, understand, warn, wish等。 eg: I hope (that) it will snow this winter.I believe (that) we shall become good friends.Betty thinks (that) trees can im

10、prove the air. 注意: 有些宾语从句不能省略that。如果谓语动词后跟有两个或更多个并列的宾语从句, 第二个及以后的that都不可以省略。主语中有it作形式宾语,that不可省。 eg: He said (that) the book was very interesting and that(不省略) all the children like to read it. (2)当宾语从句是一般疑问句时,引导词用if或whether来引导,if或whether在句中意为“是 否”,常放在ask,see,say,know和find out等动词(组)后面。一般情况下,两者常 可换用,

11、在口语中多用if。eg: He tells me that he will go to the college next year. I dont know if / whether there will be a bus any more. Lucy asked whether (if) they had a cotton sweater. 注意: whether与if通常情况下可以互换, 但在下列情况下通常用whether而不用if。 从句后有or not的情况。 The teacher asks me whether I have finished my homework or not.

12、 从句前有介词的情况。 My parents are talking about whether we will go to Hong Kong for travelling. 从句在句首的情况。 Whether you like it, I dont mind. 在动词不定式之前只能用whether 。 I cant decide whether to stay. 用if会引起歧义时,只用whether。 Could you tell me if you know the answer?这句话有两种意思:“你能告诉我是否知道答案吗?”或“如果你 知道答案,请告诉我,好吗?”。如用whethe

13、r可避免歧义。 (3)由连接代词who(谁),whom(谁),whose(谁的),what(什么),which(哪一个)和连接副词when(什么时间),where(什么地点),why(为什么),how(怎么样)引导的宾语从句。这些连接代词和连接副词在宾语从句中充当某个成分,不能省略,并且宾语从句要用陈述语序。 Could you tell me which gate we have to go to?
