、cessary to know more information about the market. In this report, the software of SPSS will be used to analyze the data and statistical methods will be interpreted in the case.Introduction Michael Jenkins is going to operate his own restaurant and he asked the research film to conduct a survey. The pu
、rpose of the survey was to explore more information to verify the probability of the success in his restaurant and then giving some useful information to help him make decisions. The report will analyze the market influence factors and use statistical methods such as uni-variate,bi-variate and multi-
、variate to make the data more meaningful. At the end, some recommendations based on the analysis result will be given. Methods of analysis Data analysis should be different in different problems(Pallant,2010).In this the procedure of the data analysis, the approach of the data analysis include as below.
、The descriptive statistic is a brief description of the characteristics of the data, such as mean, variance and others. The independent sample T test is one of the uni-variate analyses. This test method is applicable to the assumption o f the population whose distribution is normal, population variance i
、s unknown(Larson,2010).And this test is used to distinguish the difference of the mean between the sample and the population. The paired samples test is one of the bi-variate analyses. The test judged whether two related samples are from the same population and it also assumed that the distribution is
、 normal.Through comparing the significance of the statistics t of the different samples, the difference between two samples can be seen. The independent test has the same principle as the paired samples. However,it is 5 used when two samples are independent from each other. And the result lies in the si
、gnificance of the statistics t.The single factor of variance test is used when the variate is more than two.And it is the foundation of the analysis of variance. The theory of the method is to study the degree of a factor affected by other factors and see whether the results are significant.Pearson c
、orrelation is analyzed to see the simple correlation between two factors and find the potential meaning(Luo,2011).Analysis of the each question Because the sample size is large,so assume that is a normal distribution(Yang.2011).Hypothesis1.The cost that people desire to pay for a meal is no more tha

、 the table,we can see that the mean is 19.23 more than 19,so reject the null hypothesis.Hypothesis2.The average revenue of the people surveyed is different from$70,000.6 Choose the null hypothesis as the average income is$70,000 and the alternative hypothesis is not equal to$70,000.Because this is o
、ne sample,so the one-sample test is used.Table2 One-Sample TestFrom the table 2 we can see that the statistic value of t is 4.905,the degree of the freedom is 399,the 95%confidence interval is(4247,9927)and the confidence level of the statistic t is 0.000,so reject the null hypothesis and we think t
、he mean of the people surveyed in the revenue is different from$70,000.And the value is$77,087.50 that is significant.Hypothesis3.The preference degree for simple d cor is equal to the degree of elegant d cor.Choose the null hypothesis as the preference for the two samples are the same and the alter
、native hypothesis is the two are not equal. The mean of the two choices for the simple and elegant are 2.26 and 3.64.Because this is the preference related to one person, which means the two samples are related,so the paired sample test is used.Table 3 Paired Samples Correlations N Correlation Sig.Pai
、r 1 The Preference for Simple Decor&Elegant Decor 400.838.000 From the table3 we can see that the statistic value of correlation is o.838,and the confidence level of the correlation test is 0.000,so the two samples have tight relationship with each other.Table 4 Paired Samples Test 7 From the table
、4 we can see that the statistic value of t is-40.398,the degree of the freedom is 399,and the confidence level of the statistic t is 0.000,so the null hypothesis should be rejected and we think the difference between the two samples is significant.Figure 1 Figure 2 8 Based on the chart above,we coul
、d know that nearly 16.5%of the respondents feel preference for the simpled cor,60.75%of the respondents feel preference for the elegant d cor,so the elegant one is preferred.Hypothesis4.Different marital status of people spent differently in the mean number in restaurants each month. The null hypothe
、sis could be that different marital status for the two samples are the same in the mean amount spent and the alternative hypothesis is the two are different.Because this is three kind of marital status with the amount spent in restaurants and we want to know the certain dependent variable,so the sin
、gle factor analysis of variance is used.Table 5 ANOVA 9 From the table 5,we can see that the statistic value of F is 99.939,and the confidence level of the statistic t is 0.000,so reject the null hypothesis and we think the difference between the three kinds of marital status is significant.Figure 3
、 We can know the mean of different form of the marital status from figure 3.The mean amount spend for the married is higher than the other. It is 232.6,so it is the category that spends most.Hypothesis5.Mean preference for jazz combo=the average preference for string quartet.Choose the null hypothesi
、s as the mean preference for the two samples are the same and the alternative hypothesis is the two are not equal. The mean of the preference for jazz and string are 2.40 and 3.39.Because this is the preference related to one person, which means the two samples are related,so the paired sample test is
、 used.Table 6 Paired Samples Correlations N Correlation Sig.Pair 1 Prefer Jazz Combo&Prefer String Quartet 400.885.000 10 From the table6 we can see that the statistic value of correlation is o.885,and the confidence level of the correlation test is 0.000,so the two samples have tight relationship w

、the A,B,C,D postcodes and the average money people paid for a meal and,the alternative hypothesis is different.Due to this is four kinds of postcodes with the average price people are more likely to spend on a meal and we want to know the certain dependent variable,so the single factor analysis of v

、from the female. The null hypothesis is no difference for male and female in the average restaurant expenditure in a month and the alternative hypothesis is different.Due to the genders are two styles such as male and female, and each of the two are independent,so the independent samples test is used.
、From the table 11,we can see that the statistic value of t is-2.98,and the confidence level of the statistic t is 0.003,so reject the null hypothesis and we think the difference between the two kinds of genders is significant. And the mean of different form of the genders is$202.16 and$213.96.The fem
