English business letters have some particular features in language, and its translation standards and techniques are also different from that of the general English translation. In this dissertation, the language features of English business letters ar

And at the same time, we will summarize the translation standards and skills.By summarizing previous studies, we find that the language features of English business letters are significant. With the maturity of the theoretical system,

13、the 7C principles “courtesy, consideration, clearness, completeness, conciseness, concreteness, and correctness” are followed widely nowadays. The wording is formal, concise, and austere; under the business environment, specialized vocabulary and commercial terms are widely used; the sentences are e

14、xpressed effectively and politely, and fixed formulas are used extensively; discourse is coherent, logic, and strong. Thus, the translation of business letters is more complicated than that of normal English, because not only should the translators master the culture of both languages, be familiar w

Nidas dynamic equivalence theory can be applied in the translation of different types of English business letters, and we can achieve the “faithful, authentic, unified”

We should learn jargon translation of jargon, terminology translation of terms, pay attention to the phenomenon of polysemy, duplication and omission, and avoid applying death translation mechanically or chaos translation of the words too literally.1.2 AimsThrough the analysis of the lang

With the maturity of the theoretical system, its language commonly follows the “7C principles”, that is, “courtesy, consideration, clearness, completeness, conciseness, concreteness, correctness” (Chen Yongsheng, 1994), whose objective is to maintain a good bu

Economy and conciseness are the concrete manifestations of the efficiency. The applications of commercial terms add some “mystery” character for English business letters. French linguist Mart

For the sake of the time-saving needs of economic principles, the phenomenon of language abbreviations emerges. Business English also has a typical abbreviated way. “Commercial contracts, consumers warranties, o

Being not familiar with is unlikely to understand.” (Wang Zuoliang, Ding Wangdao, 1987).In the late 20th century, Brown and Levinson (1987:62) inherited and developed the theory of face-saving behavior. They proposed that in language communic

(1983) proposed six criteria for politeness principles: Tact Maxim, Generosity Maxim, Approbation Maxim, Modesty Maxim, Agreement Maxim, Sympathy Maxim. In the languag

The pursuit of conciseness and correctness in English business letters and appropriate use of vague language are not paradoxical. “It is essential to understand the vague language strategy for the analysis of certain types of co

Mr Zhu Gelin (1987) mentioned in his book Practical English Handbook of Foreign Trade that “not all foreign correspondence should be correctness, in certain circumstances, not only allowing generalization, but its better to be a bit general.” It could also avoid being t

To a certain extent, they are words that can ease tone, express politeness, enhance level of praise and thanks, save face and avoid damaging each other.2.2 Previous studies on tr

Nidas (1964) theory of Dynamic equivalence is praised by many Chinese scholars as the standard for judging good or bad translation and the ultimate goal they pursue. The theory is based on sociology, social linguistics, semiotics and ot

In 1964, he first proposed the translation standard of “dynamic equivalence”.In the 1980s, he and Di J. (1984), a Chinese scholar, co-authore

This is to say, the relations of the target language receptors to the target language text should be roughly equivalent to the re

It is this double relationship that provides the basis for dynamic equivalence.” The “equivalence” in the theory requires that the value of target language and source language are equaled. It advocate that we should reproduce the trans

According to his classification, business English, involves import and export bu

Of course, the coverage of business English is broader, the formal and professional nature of the style

38、 is relatively weaker compared with foreign accounting English and international financial English. Some scholars simply deny that business English is a professional language, such as Leo Jones and Richard Alexander (2008) of United Kingdom. They said in the Business English of Cambridge test series,

39、 “Business English is not a professional language. Its just English used in business occasions. Despite a number of “business” professional terms, most of the so-called business English is used in business English activities, not professional language.”Though there is certain truth in the above poin

In the translation application of the dynamic equivalence theory, you can at least see it as quasi-professional, quasi-formal style.Dynamic equivalence theory can be widely applied in various forms of business English translation,

Chang Yutian (2002) often said when he was talking about the translation standards, “the most fundamental task

It must emphasize the semantic equivalence and “authenticity”, which gives the readers a feeling of prof
