22、er.So Imsticking with him.Some people would call that settling”,like its a bad thing.But I believe insettling.Alas,to many of us,the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.From movies tomagazines to commercials,were told that we should demand more from lives that are,for manyof us,pretty go

23、od.We suppose to look better,eat better,find better jobs,be better lovers andparents and workers.A stable marriage isnt enough.Its supposed to be a fairy tale.Perfection isthe goal.Settling in my sense,is about acceptance.Tm a pretty happy person,in large part becauseIm honest with myself about what

24、 I have.Of course,some situations are worth improving.If your weight jeopardizes your health,exercise and change your eating habits;if your job makes you truly miserable,find a new one.Ifyour marriage is toxic,end it.Chances are,though,you probably have what you need.If you,reunhappy,ask yourself:Am

25、 I unhappy because I really dont have what I need,or because I justwant more?So,yes,Im settling.Tm happy with my husband who,despite his flaws,is a caring father,capable of acts of stunning generosity and fiercely protective of his family.Thinking about himmay not set me on fire as it used to,but af

26、ter 17 years and two kids,our love is still warm.And Ibelieve thats good enough.Listening and SpeakingBefore the television was invented,families spent their spare time doing different activitiestogether.Now,most families stay at home and watch TV.But there are a few reasons whywatching television c

27、an be harmful.The most important reason why watching TV is bad is it influences how much familymembers communicate.Parents,grandparents,and other family members have a lot of wisdom toshare.This wisdom,however,is often ignored by young people who watch TV.Furthermore,watching television is bad becau

28、se it reduces childrens study time.Researchershave found that children who watch little or no television spend three hours a day on study morethan frequent TV watchers.Finally,TV programs can be a bad influence.Some shows,as we all know,includeinappropriate language and too much violence.And while t
