6、lyalteredeveninthefirstfascicleowingtothenecessityofhmitinginadvancethenumberofpagessoasnottoexceedthegrantmadebytheGovernment.ThatfirstportionoftheworkcontainsanenumerationofplantsfroraJianunculacea3toKosaceae,withdescriptionsofnewornoteworthyplants,referencestospecies(as farasaccessible),andakeyto

7、the famihes,generaandspecieswiththeirrespectivelocaHtiesandgeographicaldistributions.Ithadbeenmyintentiontopursuethisalteredplaninthecaseofthissecondfascicle;butsoonafterthemanuscriptwasready,Iwasinformedofafurtherreductionofthegrant,andthishascompelledmetocutoutnearlyallreferencestospecies.Theprese

8、ntfascicletherefore,liketheprecedingone,containsakeytothefamilies,genera,andspecios,andanenumerationofplantsfioniSaxifragOcietoDipsacea)withtheirlocalitiesandgeographicaldistributions;butthereferencestospeciesareconsiderablylimited.DescriptionsaregivenonlyinthecaseofplantswhichareneworwhichIhavenotI
