7、nsave.Meanwhile,landneededtoproducefoodforpeopletoeatisplantedwithmoreprofitablebiofuelcrops,andwaterisdivertedfromthedrinkingsupply.InEuropeandtheUnitedStates,foodpricesforitemslikepizzaandbreadhaveincreasedsignificantlyasgrainstoresshrinkandwheatpricesrise.Thepricesofwheatandricearedoublethoseofay

8、earago,andcornisathirdhigher,theFoodandAgricultureOrganizationsaidthisweek.Foodpriceinflationhitsthepoorhardest,astheshareoffoodintheirtotalexpendituresismuchhigherthanthatofwealthierpopulations,saidHenriJosserandoftheFoodandAgricultureOrganization.Biofuelsarenot,ofcourse,theonlyreasonforhighfoodpri
