、BOLT Learning Innovation Plan Template Learning and Teaching Context Include description of your learners and class e.g.level of class, the number of students in class, your students characteristic such as their age, learning preference, motivation for learning Describe the learners experience of educat

、ional technologies, computer competence, information literacy Describe your learning and teaching scenario e.g.physical environment, the course learning aims Include input to be covered in the Learning Innovation,e.g.mode of delivery of the learning activity 1.What is your learning and teaching context

、?I have started leading the“exercise sciences”course for a group of year 2 undergraduate physiotherapy students(n=103)and a group of beginner level master students in physiotherapy(n=46)in the current semester. They attend lectures together in a lecture theatre while they will have separate tutorials

、 in different rooms. This course will be run by 6 different colleagues. While we have successfully taught our students through lecture and tutorials,we would like to integrate blended learning and peer teaching into our existing system.Since the introduction of blended learning to all the lectures wil

、l be quite overwhelming for the students,we plan to initiate a pilot plan to use a blended learning component in one of the nine lecture(i.e.hydrotherapy).The objective of online component is to provide the theoretical background about hydrotherapy, while the lecture will provide practical considerat

、ires students to prepare different types of therapeutic exercises for different conditions. The resulting materials can be watched by their peers on their phones during clinical placements.Learning Innovation Rationale Describe the rationale behind your Learning Innovation Include a reason for choosi

、ng this particular learning and teaching scenario for your innovation and the reasons behind choosing the approaches and technologies that you did 2.What is the rationale behind your Learning Innovation?Blended learning Given the large class size and heterogeneous educational background of students,

、it is very difficult for instructors to convey enough fundamental knowledge related to various topics during lectures, which may be crucial for students with insufficient prior training. For instance, hydrotherapy will demand students to have a good basic understanding of water properties, which may hav

、e been taught in the high school Physics class.Unfortunately, only some, but not all, students have taken Physics course in their high school. In order to help students with relatively less knowledge in Physics and help other students to recap the fundamental concept,we will prepare and upload specific

、videos about the basic knowledge on water properties so that students can watch those materials at their own time.Peer teaching through videos Regarding the peer teaching,we plan to adopt a new assignment method to facilitate students to teach and share knowledge among one another so as to cultivate

、 a lifelong learning culture, which is paramount to the students after graduation. The new online assessment and teaching method can help students adopt peer knowledge to broaden their choices of therapeutic exercises for future clinical placements.Intended Learning Outcomes List the ILOs of your lear

、ning innovation Preferably give detailed descriptions of the listed ILOs,e.g.what kind of knowledge, academic, technical or social skills are targeted as ILOs,would your innovation intend to increase student motivation and their ability to progress in your subject, what would your students learn throug

、h your innovation Also consider the ILOs of your course/subject if your innovation is micro-level.Ideally,the ILOs of your innovation and your course/subject should be aligned and relevant to each other 3.What are the Intended Learning Outcomes of your Learning Innovation?-Students can apply the fun

、face-to-face,what will be online and how are these two learning environments connected Include the step-by-step stages of your learning and teaching activity Provide what kind of resources, tools and learning contents you will use Describe the interactions that occur at each stage(e.g.St-St,T-St),i.e

、.what students have to do,how it will be organized, whether students will work individually or collaboratively Describe the strategy you will use to ensure student engagement/participation Describe the methodologies if any you will use to do the assessment(either formal or informal)for this innovatio

、n activity Describe the time-frame for this intervention and outline any follow-up or extension activities the learners do 4.Describe your Learning Innovation Online lecture:-We will prepare and upload 3 videos related to water properties and fundamental knowledge of hydrotherapy for students -After

、 watching the videos, students need to answer a few online questions so as to make sure that they acquire relevant knowledge from the videos.Since the materials are very factual, discussion among students are not necessary.-This process will be conducted in this semester.-In the long run,if students l

、ike the hydrotherapy online teaching materials,we will expand our lecture series to other aspects(e.g.therapeutic exercises for sports injury).Specifically,we will invite guest lecturers to teach various topics(e.g.professors from other universities to share experience about exercise for injury prev

、ention,or athletes to share their experience on doing specific exercises for rehabilitation);online short quizzes may be included after watching the videos. The lecture contact hours may reduce if we increase relative proportion of online lectures.Face-to-face-We will use some of the online materials

、 to guide our discussion(e.g.application of water property in hydrotherapy)during tutorials. This part will be implemented if the feedback from the hydrotherapy videos is good.Peer teaching through videos-We will divide the entire class into 25 groups of four to five students. Each group will be assig

、 resulting videos will be uploaded to a dedicated website. Each group of students will be assigned to rate the videos of 3 other student groups using a standardized rating sheet. The students rating alongside the instructor rating of a given video will attributed to 10%of the final score.-In addition,

、each student group is required to present the assigned pathological condition and the respective video in a seminar presentation, which will attribute to 15%of the final score.-All the videos will be archived on the website for one additional semester so as to allow students to revisit the videos at

、their own convenience.Learning Support Describe any learning support you provide e.g.detailed instructions, technical support, other teacher-led support or peer support 5.What learner support will be provided?Blended learning Detailed instructions will be given to students to facilitate them in using

、the online platform on blackboard to watch teaching videos about hydrotherapy.Students can interact with instructors through online forum, email and face-to-face tutorials.Peer teaching through videos Given the popularity of smartphones,it will not allow much technical support for video shooting. We will provide detail instructions regarding the objectives and requirement of the assignment.Technical support will be provided regarding the advanced processing of videos,if necessary.Instructors and peers can communicate through both online discussion forum and face-to-face consultation.
