3、atment is available.First aid may save a life orimprove certain vital signs including pulse,temperature,an unobstructedairway,and breathing.In minor emergencies,first aid may prevent avictims condition from worsening and provide relief from pain.First aidmust be administratedas quickly as possible.I

4、n the case of the criticallyinjured,a few minutes can make the difference between complete recovery andloss of life.First aid measures depend upon a victims needs and the providerslevel of knowledge and skill.Knowing what not to do in an emergency is asimportant as knowing what to do.Improperly movi

5、ng a person with a neck injury,for example,can lead to permanent spinal injury and paralysis.First aid requires rapid assesssment of victims to determine whetherlife-threateningcondition exist.One method for evaluating a victim s condition is knownby the acronym ABC,which stand for:Aairway:Is it ope

6、n and unobstructed?BBreathing:Is the person breathing?Look,listen,and feel forbreathing.CCirculation:Is there a pulse?Is the person bleeding externally?Check skin color and temperature for additional indications of circulationproblems.3.Having the correct method of first aid is so important.（1）Shock

7、（People often suffer from shock after receiving an injury;sometimes evern the injury is a small one.The face turns grey,and the skinbecomes damp and cold.They breathe quickly.）They should be kept warm.Cover them with a blanket and give them awarm drink.（2）Broken Bones:Dont move the person.Send for a

8、n ambulance at once.Treat for shockif necessary.（3）Drowning（a drowning person will have his lungs full of water）Lay him down with his head lower than the rest of his bodyso that thewater will drain out.（4）Suffocation（a person has something stuck in his throat）Try to remove it with your fingers,or by

9、 hitting him on the back.（5）When part of the body has been torn offTry to find the part;Wrap it in a clean dressing and place in a plastic bag;Put the bag on the ice,but dont freeze;Take the part to the hospital.（6）When an object is impaled in a woundDo not remove it.You could reveal an open artery

10、which would thenbe awfully hard to deal with;Bandage dressings around the object to immobilize it and support itin its position in the wound;See the doctor as soon as possible.（7）SplintersA small splinter in the skin should be removed with tweezers;For a splinter in the eye,seek emergency help immed
