The deeper your pain, the longer it usually takes to completely forgive. It is an act because it is not just the words you say, but also your actions whi

4、ch show if youve truly forgiven someone.Forgiveness is necessary because it helps removes the burden of bitterness and hate. It takes a lot of energy to hate and to keep that hate in place. Hate puts unnecessary stress on your body. It is a wellknown fact, proven by numerous studies, that bitterness

5、 and hate can actually make you sick. The moment that people forgive and let go of their hate, they will start to get well. Forgiveness brings freedom, whereas revenge(报复) is neither sweet nor satisfying.I have personal experience of this. I used to be very cynical about life and didnt forgive easil

6、y. At the time, I also struggled in every area of my life. Things just didnt seem to work out for me. It is as if everything that could go wrong, always went wrong. That was until somebody told me to take a look at my attitude. And when I forgave those who wronged me and changed my attitude, everyth

7、ing else changed. It didnt happen overnight. It took a while, but I could see and feel the difference.Are things not working out in your life, despite you doing all the “right” things? That change is the rapid growth in urbanization. In 2008, for the first time in human history, more than half the wo

And as a recently published paper shows, the process of urbanization will only accelerate in the decades to comewith an enormous impact on biodiversity and potentially on climate change.As Karen Seto, the lead author of the paper, points out, the wave

13、of urbanization isnt just about the migration of people into urban environments, but about the environments themselves becoming bigger to provide enough room for all those people. The rapid expansion of urban areas will have a huge impact on biodiversity hotspots and on carbon emissions in those urb

14、an areas.Humans are the ultimate invasive specieswhen they move into new territory, they often displace the wildlife that was already living there. And as land is cleared for those new citiesespecially in the dense tropical forestscarbon will be released into the atmosphere as well. Its true that as

15、 people in developing nations move from the countryside to the city, the shift may reduce the pressure on land, which could in turn be good for the environment. This is especially so in desperately poor countries, where residents in the countryside slash and burn forests each growing season to clear

16、 space for farming. But the real difference is that in developing nations, the move from rural areas to cities often leads to an accompanying increase in incomeand that increase leads to an increase in the consumption of food and energy, which in turn causes a rise in carbon emissions. Getting enoug

17、h to eat and enjoying the safety and comfort of living fully on the grid is certainly a good thingbut it does carry an environmental price.The urbanization wave cant be stoppedand it shouldnt be. But Setos paper does underscore the importance of managing that transition. If we do it the right way, w

18、e can reduce urbanizations impacts on the environment. “Theres an enormous opportunity here, and a lot of pressure and responsibility to think about how we urbanize,” says Seto. “One thing thats clear is that we cant build cities the way we have over the last couple of hundred years. A research in 2017 shows that around 75.7 percent of new graduates said they were, to some extent, discriminated or suffered from injustice when finding jobs.Female college graduates still face great wall of discrimination in the emp

24、loyment market. “Males only”, “Married with children preferred”: These are some of the conditions commonly found in recruitment(招募) advertisements. According to a research by Renmin University of China in 2015, male college graduates do have more interview opportunities than female college graduates

25、 despite the similar academic background and work experience.Regional discrimination also becomes a barrier for job seekers. Some companies dismiss job seekers from specific regions due to the regional stereotypes(成见), like “Central Chinas Henan Province is the cradle of liars” and “people from Nort

26、heast region are usually rude”Recruitment advertisements sometimes also show favor for local applicants. Nonlocals had been denied jobs because their registered residence origin was not the same as the city where they were hunting for a job.Apart from “invisible thresholds(门槛)” like gender and regio

27、n, college graduates in recent years were disappointed to find that personal details like superstitions(迷信) about blood type, zodiac, and facial structure were all part of the decisionmaking process by some potential employers.An applicants surname can also help or hamper(妨碍) job prospects. 28、 name that suggests prosperity, like Jin, which means “gold”; while a last name like Pei, which can mean “to lose money”, would likely be negative. Besides, job seekers also found that some employers paid much attention to their appearance rather than the working performance.To fight against employm

In 2007, Employment Promotion Law was passed with the purpose of opposing employment discrimination and promoting justice in job recruitment.The Ministry of Education in 2017 issued regulations to ban work discrimination in
